It’s not a question IF Spaceport Sweden to become a world-leading spaceport with space travel for individuals, but WHEN.

So says Spaceport Sweden’s CEO Karin Nilsdotter after the contract with Inlandsinnovation that secures funding for new investments in the company, allowing the next targets of product development and commercialization to materialize.

In 2012, the company is continuing its product development and commercialization of multi-space adventure center, and will also undertake a feasibility study and then begin the infrastructure development of Spaceport Sweden Visitor & Training Center in Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. As an important part of these efforts, Spaceport Sweden have now secured additional investments in the agreements signed with Inlandsinnovation. Further expanding the company, Carina Johnsson is further joining the company in late April as Operations Manager.

Inlandsinnovation, a public venture capital firm focusing on growth investments is implementing its first investment, of which Spaceport Sweden AB receives 3 million of the 8 million invested during 2012.

– We have signed agreements on investment in Spaceport Sweden AB. It is a company with strong innovative profile with export potential and has a business model and technology, where economic, environmental and social considerations go hand in hand, says Gunnar Olofsson, CEO of Inlandsinnovation.

– Inlandsinnovations efforts mean a lot to us, with this serious national player backing us, we are stronger than ever focusing on the establishment of Spaceport Sweden as a world leading spaceport in competition with other international efforts, says Karin Nilsdotter, CEO of Spaceport Sweden.”
